Jana

Jana

Jana visited Animal Care Austria‘s Summer Festival in July of 2014 with a bag full of toys which she had purchased with her pocket money for ACA’s shelter dogs.  ACA president, Carol Byers, was impressed with this young girl’s big heart for animals, and immediately invited Jana to attend the ACA’s next Care Day the following month so that she could enjoy giving the toys to the dogs herself.

The then 11 year old Jana and her father joined the ACA Team in caring for the 250 dogs and 40 cats who live at our Care Station in Hungary.  Since this time, Jana has been a steadfast ACA friend and supporter.  Jana has an amazing ability to motivate her classmates and she has spearheaded many school projects which have not only benefitted ACA, but also made animal awareness in her school a more prominent topic. 3 years in a row, Jana and her school friends sold homemade lip-scrubs, soap, snowmen, cookies, Christmas cards, and other items for a total of 1.610,68 euros to benefit ACA’s shelter animals.

On January 30, 2017, 5 days after the disastrous fire which caused so much devastation at the Care Station, Jana and her friends immediately took action and presented ACA with 1.000 euros which they had collected to help with rebuilding the shelter.  Jana has participated in Care Days, she has attended a Puppy Play Date day, and she and her family became a foster family for a shelter dog until a permanent family could be found.

For Jana’s dedication and commitment to helping homeless animals, she was awarded the Animal Care Austria Junior Ambassador Award in 2016.
