Jojo Sares & Hanni Bernhard

Jojo Sares' and Hann Bernhard's connection to Animal Care Austria began in 2018 when they adopted their dog Zola from ACA's partner shelter in Hungary. For many years, she was the center of their lives, and they cared for her with immense love and devotion. After Zola's death in 2023, Jojo and Hanni decided to keep her memory alive and further deepen their commitment to animal welfare.
Since the first ACA Work Days, they have regularly visited the shelter in Hungary, supporting the team and the dogs along with their friends. In addition to the Work Days, Jojo and Hanni have also been active as foster caregivers for Animal Care Austria since 2024. In January 2026, they were able to take in their sixth foster dog from Hungary, nurture it through its transition, helping it to find a new home, and therefore, making room for the next foster dog.
Through fostering, they have found their true passion. They are driven to give dogs a good start in life, to raise awareness of their plight, and to inspire people to become foster caregivers and adopt rescue dogs. Therefore, they are part of the ACA foster care team and also run their own Instagram account (@fosterforzoli) where they share stories about life with foster dogs, provide a platform for their charges—both in foster care and in the shelter—and showcase how wonderful rescue dogs are.
In addition, they actively support the Animal Care Austria Instagram account with stories, insights into their daily work in animal welfare, and by answering questions on the platform. For both of them, this commitment is a valuable counterbalance to their demanding daily lives—between running a café and working in a corporate environment—and a cause close to their hearts, which they pursue with complete conviction.
