Veterinary Medical Scholarship

ACA is an organization that not only helps animals, but also helps people who want to help animals. Over a year ago, ACA began a new project entitled the "Improving the Human-Animal Relationship". We took our first steps in Hungary, and now we are expanding our program to Romania, where we are very proud to announce our first scholarship. This scholarship is for people with limited financial resources who want to pursue a future in animal care. While ACA was in Craiova, Romania for the great castration project, we came to know a young woman with a great heart for animals through our American animal welfare partner group Romanian Animal Rescue. Prior to her work with RAR, Mihaela Raducanu of Tecuci, a 32-year-old single mother of two sons, worked twelve hours a day in a Penny Market, and nevertheless found time to do a great deal of good for Romanian stray dogs. After observing this woman's special abilities with animals, RAR offered her a position working with stray dogs. Thus she was able to leave her job at Penny Market (where she had earned €300 per month, which she needed to survive) and had more time to devote to her children and to animal welfare. When ACA learned that Mihaela's great dream had been to become a veterinarian, and after we, too, became convinced of her special qualities, ACA decided to award her their first Veterinary Medicine Scholarship. Now Mihaela can help many more stray dogs, first and foremost by taking part in the highly important animal castrations.

The scholarship covers her tuition (€340/semester), university books (€70/semester) and her living expenses (€160/month).

Mihaela is now a student at the Universitatea Spiru Haret and is very happy that ACA is giving her and the animals of Romania this chance for a different and better life. ACA wishes Mihaela great success in her studies and is very happy to be able to support people and animals.
