Romanian Castration Project

In 2011 ACA began a collaboration with the American animal welfare organization Romanian Animal Rescue (www.romaniaanimalrescue.com). One of ACA's primary goals is animal castration in neighboring lands, and the methods employed by the RAR to catch, castrate, medically treat, and release animals are compatible with the ethical standards of ACA. Through RAR's efforts alone, more than 4,459 stray dogs and cats in Romania were castrated in 2011 alone. ACA provides financial support for the castration campaigns organized through the RAR, and works in in tandem with the RAR in emergency rescue situations.

In May 2011 ACA was in Craiova, Romania to assist RAR in the castration of 1,400 stray dogs and cats. In May of 2012 ACA took part in the castration campaign in Botosani, Romania. May of 2013 again took Animal Care Austria to Craiova for another castration campaign working together with RAR and the local animal welfare organisation, Speranta Pentru Animale.

Financial support is urgently needed for these castrations: for medicine (against parasites and during the operations), vaccinations, sanitizing material and animal transport. It only costs 19 Euro to castrate a dog in Romania. Please help us to employ birth control for the pre-emptive prevention of animal suffering.
